I felt old when, on seeing a picture of the lovely Windy Miller on the desktop of my computer, one of my staff said she didn't realise he was a 'real' character - she thought he'd been created solely for the Quaker adverts!!! Everyone thinks their era of Children's programmes was the best, but I reckon you can't beat the late seventies. Share your favourite children's TV programme on the comments board, and don't forget to say whether you were a Swap Shop or Tiswas person. And were you Blue Peter or Magpie?
My favourite was Mary, Mungo & Midge with the soothing narration of Richard Baker , but Mr Benn was a close second.

I remember Andy Pandy, Muffin The Mule, Tinger and Tucker and Pogals Wood good old Watch with Mother, I just don't rate them as top progs.
Though the guys behind Pogals Wood, Oliver Postgate and Peter Firman did make some of the best Childrens programmes ever, The Clangers, Bagpus, Ivor the Engine and the Tales (saga's) of Nogin the Nog.
Big Al's favourite was Fireman Sam...so much so I had to make up additional stories at bed times before he would go to sleep.....
....and we had Ivor the Engine wallpaper for FreelanceNerd's first bedroom. You could take the train from the skirting board up to the ceiling and go past the bakery where Idris the Dragon kept warm until the fish and chip shop opened when he went to light up the range......
...just the chap you need at a barbecue!
I have to agree with Heidi, I loved Button Moon!!
Also liked Thomas the tank, Ghosbusters, Bravestar, Trap Door, Stop it and tidy up, and Rainbow!! Wow too many, Thundercats and definatly Captain Planet....i did watch Blue Peter but not till i was around 15 when Katie Hill was on it, and me and Martin watch it now, nothing to do with the blonde irish lass, its all for the aid of research..... :)
ooh I'd forgotten about Button Moon. That was a true classic. I've had a fascination with wooden spoons and Heinz baked beans ever since.

You are a lady after my own heart... What shows! Mary Mungo and Midge - I can only remember the episode where Midge gets posted somewhere to find out how th epost works. Cool. Pig on the Pipkins was cool too. We had a cat called Chigley, in honour of the TV prog. I never trusted that man on Fingerbobs, though!
